a Cascades brand

At Cascades, our steadfast belief in paper recovery is also felt at Cascades PRO, where eco-design principles are rigorously applied at every stage in the lifecycle of hygiene products. Because the good choices we make also have an impact on our partners—that’s the Cascades effect.

At Cascades, making informed choices comes naturally, making us one of the most sustainable companies in the world.

38th most sustainable company in the world, according to Corporate Knights 2024 Global 100 index, and number one in its sector.

Ranked among Canada’s top 100 employers in 2023 for the fourth year in a row, according to The Globe and Mail.

Our responsible choices produce a cascade of tangible results

We use 4.7 times less water than the industry average*

By recirculating water for different process applications, we optimize our consumption for every drop of water.

We use 2.3 times less energy than the industry average*

... by applying the 3Rs principle: reduce consumption at source, recover energy losses and replace with a less energy-intensive technology.

We prevented 30.5 million trees from being cut down in 2023*

The number of trees saved by using recycled material is equivalent to 114 times the size of New York’s Central Park.

78% of our residual material is reused

Because nothing is lost, everything is transformed.

Responsible practices from day one

1964

origin-1

The Lemaire family begins experimenting with the creation of recycled paper using fibre from recovered household waste. After convincing trials, the family begins producing paper by breathing new life into an old defunct mill. Cascades is born, and without knowing, is already operating within a circular economy model.
